After Hours

Urgent health care issues don’t always present themselves at convenient times, so we’ve developed the following resources to help you when faced with an after-hours problem. Please save phone calls for non-urgent questions (mild illness, appointments, prescription refills, behavior issues) for regular office hours.

Baby getting examined by doctor

Does your child have symptoms, but you're not sure if you need a doctor? Symptom Checker may help. This is an online tool, using protocols endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, that allows parents to click on a body part, select a symptom, and receive advice on how to treat minor illnesses at home or when to seek professional medical help. This tool also includes First Aid advice, Dosage Tables, and Parent Advice on a wide range of topics.

Urgent Care Visits

JDC will see your child for urgent concerns on Saturdays (beginning at 8:00 am) and Sundays (beginning at 9 am) at our Enola office by appointment.  Please call us at (717) 791-2680 to schedule a same-day appointment. There will be an after-hours fee charged for this type of visit.

After-Hours Nurse Triage Service

When our office is closed and you have an urgent issue that cannot wait until morning, you can call our office and be connected to our nurse triage service line. It is staffed by pediatric nurses who will give you advice on the management of your child’s problem and help you decide if or when you need to seek medical care. This service is available only to our established patients. There is a charge for this service so if your concern is not urgent, you may want to wait until our office reopens. You will be alerted at the beginning of the call if you are going to be assessed a charge. If the nurse determines that your concern is urgent, she will contact our physician on call and he or she will contact you. You can always reach us at 717-791-2680, regardless of the time of day!
