The CDC recommends everyone age 6 months and older get a fall 2023 COVID vaccine. However, at tis time, our office does NOT have the vaccine available for our patients.
Due to the end of the COVID-19 emergency declaration, vaccines are no longer provided by the government, and manufacturers are charging for them. It is JDC Pediatrics' policy to first verify coverage with the insurance companies with which we participate prior to ordering the vaccine. We are checking with these insurance plans weekly. To date, we do not have any plans that have verified coverage. We will post a news item on this website when we have ordered the vaccine and have it available for our patients.
This fall vaccine targets just one strain of COVID-19 (in other words, it’s a monovalent vaccine, as opposed to last fall’s bivalent vaccine). This vaccine targets a recent variant of the omicron strain, called XBB.1.5.
